What is this, and is it for me?
That ALL Day Bug BACK Magnesium/MSM Lotion. Just what it sounds like: a smell that sends the bugs running from around you. I personally find this oil works extremely well.
- Anyone outside in the evening who wants bugs to keep their distance
- People who want the Magnesium/MSM base working on tight muscles at the same time
- Anyone using the base for pain, discomfort, cramps, low magnesium, or energy
- Use as little or as much as you need to create the smell you need to ward off bugs.
- We recommend using it around your chest for the aromatic side, or on the bottom of your feet for maximum absorption throughout the entire body.
- Most absorptive areas of the body: bottom of the feet hits the entire body for men and women. Thighs are the second most absorptive spot for women. Forearms are the second most absorptive spot for men.
- Use these if you need to use more lotion and the feet or other areas are already covered.
- All of our Magnesium/MSM Lotions are safe for any adult to use. They should also be safe for just about any 5-12 year old. For our children under 2 years old, we normally only use the Zanex or Sleep Zzz in very small amounts. Zanex and Sleep Zzz are the only lotions we recommend for pregnancy, but all the lotions are safe for breastfeeding.
- These lotions last a long time, but since I use absolutely no fillers, it's best to warm the lotion back up and mix it back together from time to time if it separates. Set the jar in a bowl of hot water for 20 minutes at a time until it melts down, then mix it with a milk frother. Sometimes you'll have to warm it up more than once to get it soft enough to mix.
- Generally, keep it stored in a cool, dry place and mix it back together if it does separate. For potency, use this lotion within 12 months of opening it.
- A smell that sends the bugs running. Bug Back is just what it sounds like. I personally find this oil works extremely well, and you gain all the benefits you need from Magnesium/MSM as well. Sometimes you have a tight muscle and mosquitos trying to chow down on you. Have no fear, this lotion is here.
- The same Magnesium/MSM base as the whole line. Mostly shea butter, hemp seed oil, Zechstein magnesium, and MSM, so you can use any of them topically to support pain, discomfort, tight muscles, joint issues, low magnesium, cramps, energy, and so much more. There is about 280 mg of magnesium in each teaspoon of lotion.
- Magnesium relaxes tissues, so applying this lotion to any areas with pain, discomfort, tension, and the like should support them. Magnesium is responsible for 3,751 proteins and enzymes, and therefore we can expect using this lotion will support those.
- Straight past the gut. Magnesium is used to make every unit of our energy, and using it topically skips the digestive tract and deposits the magnesium directly into our blood. That is extremely helpful for anyone who can't handle much magnesium orally.
- The oils are the difference. I source high-grade oils and blend specific oils to help with certain ailments. The base is identical across the line; the blend is what you're choosing.
- What clients tell us. Many clients report feedback about the support it gives to their skin, energy, gut, anxiety, irritability, and overall mood, amongst other things.

The research behind the ingredients
Published research on the ingredients in this product, for education. These studies were not conducted on this product.
Essential Oil Blend
Scientific Reports · 2026 · RCT · n=approximately 72 volunteers across two field trials, plus 29 in a placebo trial
In randomized human-landing-catch field trials in Uganda, a skin lotion containing 6% catnip essential oil produced 79-95% repellence against mosquitoes over a four-hour evening period, matching a commercial 15% DEET preparation.
Genuine Zechstein Magnesium Chloride (transdermal magnesium)
Effect of transdermal magnesium cream on serum and urinary magnesium levels in humans: A pilot study
PLOS ONE · 2017 · RCT · n=25 enrolled, 24 completed
In a single-blind, parallel-group pilot trial of 25 adults, applying a magnesium cream supplying 56 mg of magnesium daily for two weeks raised serum magnesium by 8.54% versus 2.6% with placebo, reaching statistical significance only in the non-athlete subgroup.
100% Pure Organic Shea Butter and carrier plant oils (topical)
Anti-Inflammatory and Skin Barrier Repair Effects of Topical Application of Some Plant Oils
International Journal of Molecular Sciences · 2018 · mechanistic review
A review of nineteen topical plant oils reported that applying them to skin reduces inflammatory signalling, supports antioxidant activity and speeds barrier recovery, with shea butter's triterpenes shortening the time taken for wounds to close.
Evidence note: The repellency evidence is a randomized human field trial: a 6% catnip essential oil lotion held 79-95% repellence over a four-hour evening period in Uganda, matching a 15% DEET preparation, using the human landing catch method. That is category-level evidence for what a plant essential oil in a skin lotion can do at a defined concentration; this jar's oils are proprietary, so a field trial of this blend at its own concentration is what would make the evidence product-specific. The magnesium and shea base rests on the same studies as the rest of the line - a 25-person transdermal cream pilot whose authors called for larger trials, and a 19-oil topical barrier review.
FAQ
What is this blend for?
Bug and pest support. It is a smell that sends the bugs running from around you, and I personally find this oil works extremely well.
How much do I use?
Use as little or as much as you need to create the smell you need to ward off bugs.
What's different between this and the other lotions?
The base is identical across the line: shea butter, hemp seed oil, Zechstein magnesium chloride, my deuterium-depleted distilled water, MSM, and beeswax. The only difference is the essential oil blend. I source high-grade oils and blend specific oils to help with certain ailments.
How much magnesium is in it, and does it get in?
There is about 280 mg of magnesium in each teaspoon of lotion. Magnesium is used to make every unit of our energy, and using it topically skips the digestive tract and deposits the magnesium directly into our blood, which is extremely helpful for anyone who can't handle much magnesium orally.
Why did my jar separate?
Because I use absolutely no fillers. Sit the jar in hot water about 20 minutes, then remix with a milk frother. Repeat if it's still firm. It happens faster in a bathroom where temperatures swing. Nothing is wrong with it.

All of our Magnesium/MSM Lotions are safe for any adult to use, and should also be safe for just about any 5-12 year old. For our children under 2 we normally only use the Zanex or Sleep Zzz, in very small amounts.
