Why would I eat liver in a capsule?
If you're not buying it from Modern Roots Life, you do not have the real Argentinian source.
Grass-fed Argentinian beef liver, desiccated at low temperatures to retain all the fat-soluble nutrients. Often called nature's multivitamin, and the most concentrated whole-food source of copper, retinol, and B12 there is, in a capsule or a powder.
Who it's for: Adults building a food-based nutrient base. Read the iron note before you start.
- Anyone who wants copper, retinol, and B12 from food rather than synthetics
- Anyone building a mineral-first foundation for (copper, retinol, magnesium, trace minerals)
- People who care where their food comes from and want 100% grass-fed beef liver that’s lab tested.
- Anyone looking for nature's multivitamin
- Beef liver should always be taken after a good meal with fat. It improves absorption and prevents discomfort.
- Start slow. Taking too much too soon can bring on adverse effects, so follow the ramp: days 1-3, 1 capsule (or ~0.75 g powder) daily; days 4-6, 2 capsules (1.5 g); days 7-9, 3 capsules (2.25 g); days 10-12, 4 capsules (3 g); days 13-15, 5 capsules (3.75 g); day 16 and onward, 6 capsules (4.5 g) daily.
- Once you're at 3 or more, split them across meals: one with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Powder: 0.75 g equals one capsule. Stir it into a warm drink, broth, or ground meat.
- If you use a separate copper product, count both toward your daily copper.
- After finishing your first bag, many people add Morley's Recuperate IQ - Copper and Boron with breakfast to increase copper intake. Some find every-other-day dosing works best at first. Over time, additional copper support may be added, without boron, depending on individual needs.
- Whole-food copper. Liver is the richest common food source of copper, the mineral behind ceruloplasmin, the enzyme that moves iron and supports energy production and connective tissue.
- Real vitamin A, the whole-food way. Retinol in its native fat matrix, in ratio with the other fat-soluble nutrients the liver stored alongside it, because this liver is desiccated at low temperatures to retain all the fat-soluble nutrients. Whole-food vitamin A is handled differently from synthetic retinyl palmitate dropped into a formula; balanced with copper, it supports normal vision, immune function, and skin.
- B12, riboflavin, folate. The B-vitamins that support red blood cell formation and energy metabolism, in the ratios the animal stored them.
- A daily nutrient-density floor. Most people never eat organ meat. Six capsules a day closes that gap without the flavor. Beef liver is widely used to support liver function and detox pathways, adrenal and cortisol balance, energy and metabolism, and skin, eye, and gut health. That's why it gets called a natural multivitamin.

The research behind the ingredients
Published research on the ingredients in this product, for education. These studies were not conducted on this product.
100% grass-fed beef liver powder (heme iron)
Heme vs non-heme iron meta-analysis, 2024
European Journal of Nutrition · 2024 · meta-analysis · n=13 randomized trials, 910 participants
In a meta-analysis of 13 randomized trials covering 910 participants, heme iron raised haemoglobin more than non-heme iron in children with anaemia or low iron stores (mean difference 1.06 g/dL) and was linked to 38% fewer reported side effects, with the certainty of evidence graded very low.
Naturally occurring vitamin B12 in beef liver
Vitamin B12 Intake From Animal Foods, Biomarkers, and Health Aspects
Frontiers in Nutrition · 2019 · mechanistic review
This review of vitamin B12 from animal-source foods reports that meat supplies roughly 30% of total B12 intake in national survey data, that intrinsic-factor-mediated absorption saturates at a few micrograms per meal, and that about 1% of a large oral dose crosses the gut by passive diffusion.
Preformed vitamin A (retinol and retinyl esters) in beef liver
Vitamin A forms and sources review, 2021
Nutrients · 2021 · mechanistic review
This review reports that liver carries tens of milligrams of retinol and retinyl esters per 100 g, that retinyl esters from animal foods are almost completely absorbed when eaten with fat, and that vitamin A is required for rhodopsin formation, gene regulation, immune function and cell differentiation.
Evidence note: The evidence here is nutrient-level and well established: heme iron, vitamin B12 and preformed vitamin A are among the best-characterised nutrients in human nutrition research, and beef liver is one of the densest whole-food sources of all three. Read these studies as evidence about the nutrients the liver supplies. A trial of liver capsules themselves - measuring status markers in people taking this format at this serving size - is the study that would carry it from the nutrient to the capsule.
A note on iron
Iron is essential. You need it to carry oxygen and make energy. The catch is that iron only behaves when it is bound and moving. Iron that sits in storage, or circulates unbound, is chemically reactive; it drives the free-radical chemistry researchers call oxidative stress, and elevated ferritin often travels with it.
Moving iron is a copper job. Ceruloplasmin, a copper-dependent enzyme, oxidizes iron so it can leave cells and be used. Without enough copper, that enzyme stalls and so does iron traffic. Retinol, real vitamin A, sits in the same system: low vitamin A status changes how the body handles iron.
That is why we build around whole-food copper, retinol, and magnesium instead of pushing more iron. Magnesium is there for its own reasons; the evidence tying it to iron directly is thin.
If you are thinking about iron, test first. Ferritin, serum iron, and saturation, read by your practitioner with your history in front of them. Iron is not right for everyone.

FAQ
How is the liver processed?
Desiccated at low temperatures to retain all the fat-soluble nutrients, which is where the retinol lives. Nothing stripped out.
Capsules or powder, does it matter?
Same material. Capsules make the ramp schedule easy; powder mixes into food if you can handle the flavor.
Why start with one capsule?
Copper and retinol intake rises quickly on liver. Some people notice fatigue, discomfort, or digestive changes if they jump straight to a full serving. A two-week ramp makes it easy to find your dose and back off if needed.
How much copper am I getting?
At 6 capsules daily, about 4.5 mg of bioavailable copper. That's the label figure.
What do people notice?
Customer feedback most often highlights improvements in energy, skin, gut health, and overall well-being. Some also report support for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic balance.
Pairs well with
- FIQ Recuperate (Copper & Boron) — the usual next step after your first bag when more copper is wanted
- Magnesium Malate — daytime magnesium, the other half of the mineral-first base
- Salt of Life — high-mineral, high-electrolyte sea salt with every meal
Cautions
- Beef liver is naturally rich in copper and retinol vitamin A. These are highly beneficial but can sometimes trigger detox reactions: fatigue, discomfort, or digestive changes. If this occurs, reduce your dose for a few weeks before resuming.
- Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Studies suggest the nutrients in beef liver are especially important for fetal and infant development. Always consult your healthcare provider.
- Not intended for children under 5. If given, use very small amounts by opening a capsule and sprinkling into food.
- Contains bovine gelatin.
- Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigeration is not required. Best if used within 12 months of opening.
Lab Tested
Every product. COA on request, ~2 weeks.
Small Batch
Made in small batches, about as close to homemade as a capsule gets.
