Is this a daily pill or a seasonal course?
A proprietary blend of 20 wildcrafted or organic, non-GMO herbs, barks, roots, seeds and leaves, run as a timed course three times a year. One month on, three months off.
- Adults who run seasonal cleanses the way families used to - a timed course three or four times a year, not a daily pill
- People who want the full traditional wormer architecture: vermifuges, bitters, movers, demulcents and carriers in one blend
- Anyone who prefers a formula where all twenty herbs are named on the label
- Preparation: For best results, follow the Protocol Essentials for 2–3 weeks prior to starting this cleanse. This helps build up cellular nutrition and energy, making the process smoother and more effective.
- Morning: 1/2 teaspoon of loose powder or 3 capsules, first thing, on an empty stomach. Mix the powder into water or juice.
- Optional: start with our Daily Pre/Pro-Biotic and 16 oz of water, then have the Adrenal Cocktail 15 minutes later, before food.
- Second dose at least 12 hours later, either before food or 1 to 2 hours after it.
- Repeat daily until the bag is finished, about 30 days.
- During the final 2 weeks, add in Level 1 Detox (download the "Little Season Detox Guide" for instructions) for enhanced cleansing. Adjust meal timing as needed per the Detox Guide. Many combine this with the guide for enhanced results.
- Cleaner eating supports better results, but many report benefits even without dietary changes.
- A binder is not required with the Herbal Flush. If you would like to add one for additional detox support, we offer our Detox BOMB, or we recommend activated charcoal or bentonite clay.
- Then stop for three months. Repeat three times a year. Do not use these herbs daily outside of the scheduled cleanse.
- Built on The Human Wormer. That's the framework behind it: vermifuge herbs paired with bitters, aromatics and bowel-movers, run as a timed course with a long rest between rounds rather than as a daily habit. Josh adapted it into a quarterly routine.
- Parasites are not always worms. Contrary to popular belief, they can also include bacteria, fungi, mucus and other organisms that thrive off our energy. This cleanse is designed to support balance across the full cycle - adult, larva and egg.
- A course, not a habit. One month on, three months off, three times a year - the same long rest the old wormer books built in. Vermifuge herbs are worked in seasons because that is how they were always used: hit hard, then let the gut rest.
- Every life stage covered. Black walnut, wormwood and cloves are the classic trio - traditionally run together because each was said to meet a different stage of the cycle, adult, larva and egg. Miss one stage and you start over.
- Bitters stir bile, movers keep it leaving. Gentian, wormwood and sage are bitter herbs traditionally used to wake up bile and digestive fire. Cascara sagrada and yellow dock keep the bowel moving so what gets loosened actually leaves instead of sitting there being reabsorbed.
- Backed by human research. Garlic across 19 randomized trials in 999 adults. Milk thistle's silymarin across 41 trials for normal liver enzyme markers. Peppermint across 12 for digestive comfort.
- Taken on an empty stomach, twelve hours apart. Bitters and vermifuges work best when there is no food competing for them. Two doses a day, spaced, for thirty days straight.
- Every herb named. All twenty on the label. Nothing hiding behind a blend name.

The twenty herbs and what each one does here
This is a traditional wormer-style formula: vermifuges to unsettle unwelcome guests, bitters to stir bile, movers to carry it out, demulcents to keep the passage soft, and aromatics to carry the whole thing.
| Herb | Traditional role in the formula |
|---|---|
| Black walnut hull | The classic vermifuge; juglone-rich, traditionally paired with wormwood and cloves to cover every life stage. A tree nut - see the cautions. |
| Wormwood | The bitter that gives the whole family its name; artemisia herbs have been used for generations against unwelcome guests, and they stir bile on the way through. |
| Cloves | The egg-stage partner in the trio; eugenol-rich and warming, traditionally added so nothing is left behind to hatch after the course ends. |
| Cascara sagrada + yellow dock | The movers; keep things flowing so what's loosened leaves rather than lingering. Yellow dock also carries the old blood-cleanser reputation. |
| Pau d'arco | Lapacho bark from South America; the traditional alterative against fungal and yeast overgrowth, used where the terrain has gone damp and sour. |
| Elecampane | The old inulin-rich root for the lungs and the gut both; traditionally used as a vermifuge in its own right and a feed for good flora. |
| Hyssop + thyme | The aromatic antiseptics; volatile-oil herbs used for centuries to clean house wherever they reach, lungs and gut alike. |
| Burdock | The deep alterative root; traditionally used to help the body move waste out through the skin, liver and kidneys, not just the bowel. |
| Marshmallow root + fenugreek | The demulcents; mucilage that coats and soothes an irritated gut wall so the stronger herbs have something soft to travel over. Fenugreek is a legume - see the cautions. |
| Cayenne | The carrier and the heat; traditionally added to drive circulation and push the rest of the formula further into the tissue. |
| Garlic | The kitchen antimicrobial, and the most-tested herb in the blend - 19 randomized trials in 999 adults. Traditionally used against everything from worms to winter. |
| Peppermint + ginger + fennel | The settlers; aromatic carminatives that keep the gut comfortable while harsher herbs are working, and ease the griping that bowel-movers can cause. |
| Gentian | The pure bitter; one of the most bitter roots in the western herbal, traditionally taken before food to wake digestion and bile up from the bottom. |
| Milk thistle | The liver's herb; silymarin is the constituent tested across 41 randomized trials for normal liver enzyme markers and antioxidant status. Support for the organ doing the filtering. |
| Sage | The drying bitter; thujone-bearing like wormwood, traditionally used to dry damp conditions and steady a gut that has been stirred up. |
A proprietary blend - the twenty herbs are named. The roles above are the traditional herbal uses these plants have carried for generations.

The research behind the ingredients
Published research on the ingredients in this product, for education. These studies were not conducted on this product.
Garlic (Allium sativum)
Garlic supplementation meta-analysis, 2023
BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies · 2023 · systematic review and meta-analysis · n=19 RCTs, 999 participants
Pooling 19 randomized controlled trials in 999 adults, garlic supplementation significantly lowered triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, diastolic blood pressure, BMI and waist circumference versus placebo, with the authors noting substantial heterogeneity and possible publication bias.
Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum / silymarin)
Silymarin liver-marker meta-analysis, 2024
Phytotherapy Research · 2024 · systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis · n=41 RCTs
Pooling 41 randomized controlled trials, silymarin supplementation significantly lowered serum alkaline phosphatase, ALT, AST and creatinine and raised serum glutathione, with the clearest effects at higher doses taken for 12 weeks or longer and no demonstrated benefit for kidney function.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
Peppermint oil digestive comfort meta-analysis, 2019
BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine · 2019 · systematic review and meta-analysis · n=12 RCTs, 835 patients
Pooling 12 randomized trials in 835 adults, peppermint oil was more than twice as likely as placebo to improve global gastrointestinal symptoms (RR 2.39) and improved abdominal pain (RR 1.78), with adverse events no more frequent than placebo.
Evidence note: Moderate for three of the twenty herbs and traditional for the rest: garlic, milk thistle and peppermint each have large randomized human evidence bases, and each trial tested a single herb at a defined dose in a standardized preparation (aged garlic extract, standardized silymarin, enteric-coated peppermint oil) rather than this 20-herb blend. Read them as evidence about the individual herbs. The rest of the formula rests on traditional herbal use, not clinical trials.
A note on iron
Iron is essential, but stored and unbound iron is reactive; it feeds oxidative stress. The body moves iron using copper-dependent ceruloplasmin and vitamin A, which is why we focus on whole-food copper and retinol rather than pushing more iron. If you are considering iron, test your levels first and talk it through with your practitioner. Iron is not right for everyone.

FAQ
Why three times a year?
Traditionally, families performed seasonal cleanses 3–4 times a year. We recommend this every 4 months (3x per year) to maintain balance and overall wellness: cleanse for 1 month, then wait 3 months before repeating. Results vary: some may not notice major changes the first time, while others see more dramatic effects. Each round works in waves, going deeper with repeated use.
Why black walnut, wormwood and cloves together?
They're the classic trio. Black walnut hull is the vermifuge, wormwood the bitter, cloves the one traditionally credited with the egg stage. Run alone, any one of them was said to leave part of the cycle behind. Run together, they cover it.
What is the cascara sagrada and yellow dock doing in there?
Moving things. A cleanse that loosens without keeping the bowel flowing just recirculates what it stirred up. Those two are the exit. Expect looser stools during the month - that's the herbs doing their job, and it's why you keep water and minerals up alongside.
Do I need a binder?
Not required with the Herbal Flush. If you would like to add one for additional detox support, we offer our Detox BOMB, or we recommend activated charcoal or bentonite clay.
What can I expect when using this product?
Supports balance across gut and immune systems. Helps the body naturally clear stored waste, toxins, and microbial buildup. Some users notice visible changes in bowel movements by the end of the 30 days.
What might I feel during the month?
Detox symptoms - temporary fatigue, loose stools, breakouts or flu-like feelings - may occur as the body adjusts. These are generally short-lived and can signal that the body is responding; they are not allergic reactions but rather histamine responses during cleansing. Anything you'd call a rash, swelling or a change in breathing is a different thing - stop. Many see visible changes in bowel movements by the end of the thirty days.
Can I do mine while my kid does theirs?
If you are breastfeeding, make sure the baby is at least 2 years old before starting the Kids Flush or your Flush, and avoid doing them at the same time. Separate your Flush and the Kids Flush by 1 month.
Pairs well with
- Kids Herbal Flush — the children's version - run it a month apart from yours, never alongside
- Detox BOMB — the optional binder, kept 90 minutes clear in both directions
- Electrolyte Powder — what you run alongside and between rounds, because the bowel herbs cost you minerals
Cautions
- Do not use if pregnant. If breastfeeding, wait until your baby is at least 2 years old before use.
- If you are breastfeeding - make sure the baby is at least 2 years old before starting the Kids Flush or your Flush, and avoid doing them at the same time. Separate your Flush and the Kids Flush by 1 month.
- Do not use more than once every 4 months. (Cleanse for 1 month, then wait 3 months before repeating.)
- Do not use these herbs daily outside of the scheduled cleanse.
- If allergic to tree nuts (e.g., black walnut), do not use. Contact us for the modified recipe without tree nuts to make it yourself.
- Detox responses may include temporary discomfort such as digestive upset or skin breakouts. These are not allergic reactions but rather histamine responses during cleansing.
- Store in a cool, dry cupboard. Strong shelf life; refrigeration is not required.
