What is this, and is it for me?
Two ingredients: USP-grade coconut activated charcoal and food-grade diatomaceous earth. Neither is absorbed. Both are taken well away from everything else you swallow, which is the whole point of a binder routine.
- Adults who already run a binder routine and want a clean two-ingredient version of it
- People who build an evening or fasting window into their week and want something that fits it
- Practitioners who want every component visible on the label, with no proprietary blend
- This product can be used to support detox and cleansing routines, or alongside fasting practices.
- BOMB Powder should be taken separately from other supplements or medications. We recommend using it in the evening, at least 90 minutes to 2 hours after your last meal, supplement, or medications.
- Do not take meds or supplements for 90 minutes after taking this either. Both directions.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of BOMB Powder into juice, or water if preferred. Adjust the liquid amount for taste.
- Some customers also use the dry powder externally, such as mixing it into a paste for the scalp or skin.
- Optional add-on: some customers pair this with a small amount of liquid chlorophyll in the morning as part of their wellness routines.
- Charcoal binds by contact, not by chemistry you can feel. Activated charcoal is an adsorbent. It holds nonpolar, poorly water-soluble organic compounds in the gut lumen and passes straight through. Nothing is absorbed into you.
- The separation window is the product. Charcoal cannot tell a medicine from anything else. That is why this is dosed in the evening, 90 minutes to 2 hours clear of food, supplements, and prescriptions on both sides.
- Charcoal's binding is measurable. A 1986 double-blind trial found charcoal lowered breath hydrogen and reported bloating after a lactulose challenge; a 1999 study in five volunteers found the binding sites appear to saturate in transit. Both are in the research drop-down.
- Diatomaceous earth is inert silica, and that's the point. Food-grade diatomaceous earth isn't absorbed and isn't metabolized. It moves through with the charcoal, which is why it has been used in binder blends for generations.
- Nothing added to work around. Two powders. No flavor, no sweetener, no carrier. You mix it and you drink it.

The research behind the ingredients
Published research on the ingredients in this product, for education. These studies were not conducted on this product.
USP Grade Coconut Activated Charcoal Powder
Efficacy of activated charcoal in reducing intestinal gas: a double-blind clinical trial
The American Journal of Gastroenterology · 1986 · RCT · n=30 US and 69 Indian participants
In a placebo-controlled double-blind trial in two populations with different diets and gut flora (30 participants in the United States, 69 in India), activated charcoal significantly reduced breath-hydrogen production after a lactulose challenge and reduced reported bloating and cramping versus placebo.
USP Grade Coconut Activated Charcoal Powder
Failure of Activated Charcoal to Reduce the Release of Gases Produced by the Colonic Flora
The American Journal of Gastroenterology · 1999 · controlled human trial (n=5, before/after) plus in vitro testing · n=5 healthy volunteers
Five healthy volunteers took 0.52 g of activated charcoal four times daily for one week and showed no significant reduction in sulfur gases, total faecal gas release or abdominal symptoms, and companion in-vitro work suggested charcoal's binding sites become saturated during gastrointestinal transit.
USP Grade Coconut Activated Charcoal Powder (separation from medications)
Activated charcoal impairs propantheline absorption
European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology · 1971 · human pharmacology trial · n=not stated in the record
When 5 g of activated charcoal was taken orally at the same time as 45-60 mg of propantheline, the drug's measured effects were reduced, and the authors concluded the interaction could be clinically meaningful for anyone taking charcoal-containing remedies.
Evidence note: Mixed and directly relevant: activated charcoal has human trial data on both sides - a 1986 double-blind trial found lower breath hydrogen and less reported bloating, a 1999 study in five volunteers found the effect absent and suggested binding sites saturate in transit. The most reproducible finding about oral charcoal is that it binds medications taken alongside it, which is what the 90-minute separation rule on this page is built on. Food-grade diatomaceous earth is studied as an inert, unabsorbed silica rather than in clinical outcome trials.
A note on iron
Iron is essential, but stored and unbound iron is reactive; it feeds oxidative stress. The body moves iron using copper-dependent ceruloplasmin and vitamin A, which is why we focus on whole-food copper and retinol rather than pushing more iron. If you are considering iron, test your levels first and talk it through with your practitioner. Iron is not right for everyone.

FAQ
Why must it be 90 minutes away from everything?
Charcoal binds by direct contact and cannot tell a medicine from anything else. In one controlled study, 5 g of charcoal taken with propantheline substantially reduced the drug's effect. The window is what protects your prescriptions and your supplements.
Does it bind heavy metals?
Charcoal's binding profile is for nonpolar, poorly water-soluble organic compounds. StatPearls lists metals including iron and lithium among the substances activated charcoal does not adsorb, along with alcohols and electrolytes. Use it as a general binder in the elimination window.
What grade of diatomaceous earth is this?
Food grade. That is the only kind that goes in this jar, and it is what the label says.
Why the evening?
It is the easiest place in a day to get a clean 90-minute-to-2-hour gap on both sides, after your last meal and before your morning routine.
Can I use the dry powder on my skin?
Some customers do, mixing it into a paste for the scalp or skin. That is an external use people have worked out for themselves; the directions on this page are for taking it by mouth.
What do people notice?
Customer feedback highlights support for a cleansing, light, and refreshed feeling. Some users report digestive changes or temporary detox-like effects as the body adjusts. Individual results may vary.
Pairs well with
- Micro Fiber Gut & Colon Support — fiber volume on the days you aren't running the binder
- Daily Biotic Capsules — the morning half of a gut routine, 90 minutes clear of this one
- Salt of Life — high-mineral, high-electrolyte sea salt with every meal
Cautions
- We encourage responsible use.
- Do not take within 90 minutes of medications or supplements. Before or after.
- Do not use if pregnant.
- Consult your healthcare professional before use if breastfeeding, taking medication, or have a medical condition.
- Not intended for children under 18 unless directed by a qualified practitioner.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from light. BOMB Powder is highly stable and can last a long time when properly stored.
