What is this, and is it for me?
The copper ankle or wrist band bundled with its Y-connector. Order this version when the connector has failed, or when a second band is going to live somewhere else in the house on its own connector. 7 to 10 inches.
- GKIT owners whose Y-connector no longer snaps firmly onto the band terminals
- Anyone keeping a second band set up in another room and moving only the pin wire
- People adding the ankle option to a standard kit that shipped with the belt alone
- Measure around the ankle just above the joint, or around the wrist, and order that size. (To measure for your waist belt, measure at the belly button completely relaxed without pulling in.)
- Test the outlet with a plug-in ground checker before the first use. In an older house, have an electrician confirm it.
- The GKIT comes with a red wire. It used to be a plug, but because everyone thought the plug had power to it, I did away with the plug and went with the red pin wire only, for the bottom hole of your wall socket only.
- From that red wire, there is a long black cord going to a Y-Connector; this connector will attach to both sides of either your Copper Waist Belt or your Copper Anklet/Bracelet. It only goes on one way. Copper has to touch bare skin, not clothing.
- Most use the copper waist belt when sleeping, and you can also use it around your neck during the day only - bed time would be dangerous. The anklet/bracelet can also be used at night to spot target specific areas or if the belt is too difficult for you at first. Sometimes it takes getting used to and other times you're a breastfeeding Mom and the tossing and turning needs another option.
- Regardless of what you choose, simply ensure the wires are set up how I said here and the copper is touching your skin and you'll be feeling the benefits of grounding. There's never too much grounding, and there's never a time you wouldn't want to be doing it.
- After each use, pinch the band and draw it through your fingers end to end. It prevents burrs and spikey strands of copper from building up, and helps extend the life of your kit significantly.
- Band and connector together. The two pieces at the body end of the kit. If either one has failed, this is the single order that fixes it.
- The second-location version. A band on its own connector can stay clipped up in an office or a spare room; the pin wire is the only piece you carry between them.
- The small-contact wearable. Easier to sleep in than a waist belt, and you choose the spot - ankle or wrist, left or right.
- Built to be re-smoothed, not thrown out. Pinch the copper between your fingers and draw it end to end after each use. It prevents burrs and spikey strands of copper, and helps extend the life of your kit significantly - Josh gets two to three years out of a band that way.
- The research behind it. Published earthing research has measured overnight cortisol rhythm, sleep, pain, mood, blood viscosity and inflammation markers. It supports the body's normal overnight cortisol rhythm, a calmer mood during rest, and normal blood flow. All four trials are in the research drop-down with what each one measured.

What you're getting
Two parts. Your existing pin wire and cord still do the rest.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copper ankle or wrist band | The small-contact wearable, 7 to 10 inches. For daytime, for spot placement, or for nights the belt is awkward. |
| Y-connector | Splits into two legs that snap onto the two ends of one copper band. It seats one way only. |
Connector still good? The band-only listing is the cheaper replacement.

Sourcing & making
This product does not use electricity, and we use the smallest fuse we could find to ensure that no electricity is sent through the kit into your body. What actually wears out is the copper itself and the terminals at its ends. That is why every part is sold on its own, and why this page exists instead of a whole new kit.
Who it's for
- GKIT owners whose Y-connector no longer snaps firmly onto the band terminals
- Anyone keeping a second band set up in another room and moving only the pin wire
- People adding the ankle option to a standard kit that shipped with the belt alone
The research behind the ingredients
Published research on the ingredients in this product, for education. These studies were not conducted on this product.
Copper ankle bracelet with Y-connector in direct skin contact, connected to the household electrical ground (earthing)
Grounding randomized trial in massage therapists, 2019
Explore (New York, N.Y.) · 2019 · RCT · n=16
In a 6-week double-blind, stepped-wedge randomized controlled trial of 16 massage therapists, weeks spent grounded while working and while sleeping produced significant increases in physical function and energy and significant decreases in fatigue, tiredness, pain and depressed mood compared with ungrounded weeks.
Copper ankle bracelet with Y-connector in direct skin contact, connected to the household electrical ground (earthing)
The Effect of Grounding the Human Body on Mood
Psychological Reports · 2015 · RCT · n=40
In a double-blind sham-controlled pilot of 40 adults grounded or sham-grounded for one hour while relaxing in a recliner, pleasant and positive mood scores on the Brief Mood Introspection Scale improved significantly in the grounded group but not in the sham group.
Copper ankle bracelet with Y-connector in direct skin contact, connected to the household electrical ground (earthing)
Overnight grounding and cortisol pilot, 2004
The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine · 2004 · uncontrolled single-arm pilot trial (no sham group; outcomes partly self-reported) · n=12
In an uncontrolled 8-week pilot of 12 adults reporting sleep trouble, pain and stress who slept on a conductive grounding pad, night-time salivary cortisol was significantly reduced and 24-hour cortisol profiles trended toward a normal circadian pattern, with self-reported sleep, pain and stress improving in nearly all subjects.
Copper ankle bracelet with Y-connector in direct skin contact, connected to the household electrical ground (earthing)
Grounding and blood viscosity pilot, 2013
The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine · 2013 · pre/post pilot study (no sham group) · n=10
In a pilot study of 10 healthy adults grounded for two hours while seated, red blood cell zeta potential - the electrostatic repulsion that keeps red cells from clumping together - rose 2.7-fold, from an average of -5.28 mV to -14.3 mV (p = 0.00036), and average red-cell cluster size fell from 34.7 cells to 15.0 cells, indicating lower blood viscosity after grounding.
Evidence note: What has been published on grounding is early-stage and small. The trials collected here run from 10 to 40 people, the strongest is a 16-person double-blind randomized controlled trial, and several outcomes are self-reported; larger and longer trials are the next step. Readers should also know that Gaetan Chevalier, an author on three of these papers, discloses in the related 2015 Journal of Inflammation Research grounding paper that he is a paid contractor for and shareholder in EarthFx Inc., which sponsors earthing research.
FAQ
What can I use it for?
Grounding has been shown to support cortisol, boost energy, change your body composition through lowering body fat, supports inflammation and pain, supports healthy sleep patterns by balancing the body's cortisol levels and much much more!
What can I expect when using this product?
The feedback we get on this product is amazing. People rave about sleep and pain the most, but we get everything from body fat to energy to libido in our feedback from clients. Please let us know what it does for you!
Is this the full Grounding Kit?
No. This is the Ankle/Bracelet Replacement with Y-Connector for existing GKIT owners. If you are looking for the full kit, see the Standard Grounding Kit or Deluxe Grounding Kit. If you want just the Anklet/Bracelet without the Y-Connector, see the GKIT Anklet/Bracelet Replacement.
How is this different from the band-only listing?
The Y-connector. Same copper, same sizes. Buy this one if your connector is cracked or loose, or if this band is going to stay set up somewhere else on its own connector. Otherwise the band-only listing is cheaper.
Ankle or wrist?
Either. Measure whichever you plan to wear - the ankle just above the joint, or around the wrist - and order that size. Copper has to sit on bare skin, so pick the spot that will not end up under a sleeve or a sock.
How do I know my outlet is actually grounded?
Test it with a plug-in outlet checker before the first use, and have an electrician confirm it in an older house. A three-slot outlet can look grounded with no ground path behind it, and common three-light testers cannot catch a reverse-polarity bootleg ground.
Can I use it during a thunderstorm?
Although the kit should be safe during lightning strikes, I personally do not use it during electrical storms. Unplug the pin wire and take the band off if one is coming through.
Will the copper irritate my skin?
Most people wear it without trouble. A review in Contact Dermatitis found about 3.8 percent of patch-tested people reacted to copper. Stop using it if the skin under the band gets red or itchy.
Pairs well with
- Ankle/Wrist Band Replacement — the same band without the connector, if yours still holds
- Waist Belt Replacement with Y-Connector — the large-contact wearable on its own connector
- Deluxe Grounding Kit — if you are starting from nothing rather than replacing
Cautions
- This product does not use electricity, and we use the smallest fuse we could find to ensure that no electricity is sent through the kit into your body.
- Although the kit should be safe during lightning strikes, I personally do not use it during electrical storms.
- The red pin goes only in the lower round grounding hole of a properly wired outlet. Never the flat hot or neutral slots.
- To ensure your kit lasts the longest, run your fingers on either side of the copper between uses - pinch both sides and pull the anklet/bracelet through your fingers to smooth it out. This prevents burrs and spikey strands of copper from building up. Do this and place your copper somewhere it won't get smashed between uses, and you should get 2-3 years out of each copper waist/anklet.
Replaceable Parts
Belt, ankle band, Y-connector and pin wire all sold separately. Replace the piece that failed.
No Electricity
This product does not use electricity, and we use the smallest fuse we could find.
